|Divas of Eastwood is a musical revue celebrating the Chitlin’ Circuit and the artists and music that traveled the circuit. It is a musical memory of the Eastwood Country Club, Keyhole Club and Carver Community Cultural Center, the entertainers who played on the circuit and the Circuit itself. The Eastwood Country Club becomes the metaphor for all of this, presenting, as it did, such “Divas” as Dinah Washington, Etta James, Sarah Vaughn and many more. But by extension the Revue and the Eastwood represent the music of three decades of African American music, the history and its influence on today’s music.
THE RENAISSANCE GUILD, founded in January of 2001 by Latrelle Bright, Danielle King and Paul Riddle, Jr., is a non-profit organization dedicated to the examination, preservation, and celebration of the Black experience through theatre; providing educational outreach programs to the San Antonio community and surrounding areas, and providing opportunities for artistic expression to people of color.
